1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Railr uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on the railr.io website. It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, and your rights to control their use.

The Railr network is operated by Railr Inc., a c corporation registered in the State of Wyoming, United States of America. Railr intellectual property is owned by Caradon Enterprises Inc., incorporated in the Republic of Panama, under licence to Railr Inc. References to Railr, we, us, or our refer to Railr Inc. and its associated entities operating under the Railr brand.

This policy applies to the railr.io website only. It does not apply to the Railr platform or API, which are accessed by approved participants only and are governed by the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

2. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work correctly, to work more efficiently, and to provide information to website operators.

Cookies can be session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a defined period or until you delete them manually.

Similar technologies such as local storage and pixel tags operate in a comparable way to cookies and are subject to the same rules under this policy.

3. Categories of Cookies We Use

Railr uses a minimal and deliberate set of cookies. We do not use cookies beyond the two categories described below.

Essential Cookies

Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the railr.io website to operate correctly. They enable core functionality including security controls, session integrity, and platform access. The website cannot function properly without these cookies and they do not require your consent under applicable law.

Essential cookies used on railr.io include cookies that support secure HTTPS connections and enforce transport security, cookies that maintain session integrity during your visit, and cookies that support the operation of security headers and access controls implemented across the platform.

These cookies are session-based and are deleted when you close your browser unless otherwise specified.

Analytics Cookies

Railr uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the railr.io website. Google Analytics collects information including pages visited, time spent on each page, the website you visited from, browser and device type, and general geographic location at a regional level. This data is aggregated and anonymised. It does not identify you personally and is not linked to your application or participant account.

Google Analytics sets persistent cookies on your device which remain for up to two years unless cleared manually. Data collected through Google Analytics is processed by Google LLC and may be transferred to and stored in the United States.

We use analytics data solely to improve the railr.io website, understand which content is most relevant to visitors, and monitor overall platform performance. Analytics data is not used for advertising, targeting, or profiling purposes.

Analytics cookies require your consent. You can manage your preference through your browser settings or through the Google Analytics opt-out mechanism described in Section 7.

4. Cookies We Do Not Use

Railr does not use the following categories of cookies on the railr.io website:

  • Advertising or targeting cookies.
  • Social media tracking or sharing cookies.
  • Third party behavioural tracking cookies.
  • Cookies that track your activity across other websites or platforms.

6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You have several options for controlling and managing cookies on your device.

Through your browser settings you can choose to block all cookies, block third party cookies only, clear existing cookies, or set your browser to alert you when cookies are being placed. Instructions for managing cookies are available in the help documentation for all major browsers including Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge.

If you block essential cookies the railr.io website may not function correctly. If you block or delete analytics cookies your visits will not be counted in our website analytics but your ability to browse the site and submit an application for network access will not be affected.

7. Google Analytics Opt-Out

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on provided by Google, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Once installed this add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript from sharing information about your visit with Google Analytics.

You can also opt out by adjusting your Google account settings at myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy if you are signed into a Google account while browsing.

8. Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit a Do Not Track signal to websites. Railr does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals as there is no consistent industry standard for how these signals should be interpreted. We will review this position as standards develop.

9. Changes to This Policy

Railr may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, changes in applicable law, or updates to our analytics and technology infrastructure. The date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last reviewed and updated.

Where changes are material we will provide notice on the railr.io website. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
